I’m not going to be another person that asks where 2015 went.
I believe that the more experiences you fit into a year, the more memorable it will be. For me, 2015 was one hell of a year.
- January/February: Made the most of our last months in Sydney.
- March: Moved to my hometown of Hobart where I got married.
- May/June: Left Australia for a 6 week backpacking trip through Fiji, Mexico, Bolivia, and Peru.
- July: Moved to New York City, then abruptly left for Barbados after 3 weeks.
- August: Moved to New York City a second time.
- December: Took a few short trips from New York City to Philadelphia and Washington DC.
Yep, it was a big year… and I loved every second of it.
As I was reminiscing, I took a look through my Instagram photos from the past 12 months and figured out which photos were the most popular. Here’s what you guys loved most from my travels throughout 2015!
1. Melbourne, australia
Our trip to Melbourne was a last minute visa trip. Even though it was unplanned, we made the most of it by spending 2 days exploring the city around our visa appointment. My number one photo of the year was this one we captured in Hosier Lane.
2. New York City, USA
In our first attempt to move to New York City, we did some touristy stuff and discovered a bar in Rockerfeller Center where we could get fantastic views of the city for cheap. This Empire State photo got a lot of love!
3. Machu Picchu, Peru
In July, we did the famous Inca Trail (a tour that I’d won as a prize) and finished the 4 day trek with this spectacular view. Apparently you all thought it was spectacular, too!
4. Mexico City, Mexico
Mexico City surprised us in many ways, especially with its impressive architecture. This shot of the Metropolitan Cathedral was a favourite from the trip!
5. north point, Barbados
We took full advantage of our unexpected trip to Barbados by renting a car and touring the entire island. This photo of a pastel coloured house in North Point proved to be a winner.
6. San Cristobal, Mexico
It was hard to take a bad photo in San Cristobal, with its adorable houses and cobblestone streets. Add a VW Beetle into the mix and what do you have? A perfectly quaint Mexican street scene.
7. Bridgetown, barbados
This wasn’t one of my personal favourites from Barbados, but you guys seemed to love it. Local kids were playing under the pier in Bridgetown, and I just had to get my camera out.
8. New York City, USA
This wasn’t a photo I expected to get much love, as I thought it might have been cliché, but I was wrong! Somehow, Lady Liberty got to number 8 of my top 10 Instagram pics.
9. Teotihuacan Pyramids, Mexico
This photo was one of my favourites from Mexico, and I’m so glad you all liked it too. The Teotihuacan Pyramids outside of Mexico City were so damn beautiful, and the fact that we were able to climb them was one incredible experience.
10. New York City, USA
Ok I can definitely see a trend here – you guys love photos of New York City. This one of the Brooklyn Bridge was super popular. Luckily, I have plenty more to come as NYC is my new home base.
