Maldives Islands – as seen from a drone

When these Maldives Islands drone pics popped up in my Facebook feed, there is no way I could resist asking my friend Colin if I could share them with you all.

I met Colin in a hostel in Kraków, Poland, and have been following his travels through the UK and Europe ever since. He recently had the genius idea of taking his drone along on a trip to the Maldives, and I was blown away by what he managed to capture!

Colin stayed on Veligandu Island, and spent 2 weeks scuba diving in the crystal clear waters and chilling with cocktails by the pure white sand beaches. What better place is there to escape from life’s pressures than a tiny, tranquil, isolated island, positioned an entire 600 kilometres (370 miles) away from the nearest continental land?

Seriously, this has got to be one of the best ever uses of a drone. These photos are just unbelievably awesome.

Aren’t they just stunning! Colin posted a whole bunch of other amazing stuff (some sweet diving pics and videos of dolphins jumping by the boat) from his trip too, which makes it incredibly tempting to visit. It’s hard to justify with the price though… maybe when we’re older and richer 😛

definitely stunning! drone photography is so awesome, I’d love to get into it minus the little fact of needing a drone. thanks for sharing!

That is the only problem! My Dad has a drone – I’ll have to borrow it sometime so that I can get away without buying one 😛

Incredible photos. Photos are so clear and most importantly it is covering the whole region without any blurred lines and looks as if any professional photographer clicked photos with experienced hand. Absolutely priceless….

Wow, looks like you had an amazing time in the Maldives! You’re right, I haven’t managed to make it to the Philippines just yet – I did a lot of Asia when I was living in Australia but now that I’m in NYC I’m concentrating on exploring more of the US and Europe. But I’ll go back and do more of Asia one day! Thanks for your comment, JM 🙂
